  I've lived in State College since the mid 1980's, but discovered UBBC much more recently. For years I sought out churches twice a year, on Christmas Eve and Easter Sunday, to get my biannual church fix. Once I'd experienced the Christmas Eve Candlelight service at UBBC I was hooked - lovely setting, beautifully decorated, good sermon, remarkable good music for so small a church - and and the sweetest candle lighting I've experienced since my childhood. For a couple years I just went occasionally as a fly on the wall. But the people gradually drew me in - first one or two whom I wanted to know better, and eventually I realized what a rich vein I'd uncovered. Now when I walk through the door I feel like I'm going home, surrounded by people who care. All churches say they "welcome everyone." UBBC is one of the few where that feels deeply true.

  UBBC is a wonderful church home full of thoughtful, generous, and kind people. I love the congregation's openness and appreciation of all our differences. Raising children in this church is a blessing to them and me! There's solid teaching about empathy, caring for our world, and getting involved. UBBC is a progressive church that I very much appreciate being a part of.
